How We Turn Your Pet's Paw Print Into a Keepsake You'll Treasure Forever
Losing a pet is one of the hardest things. They're not "just" an animal, they're part of the family, part of the routine, part of the home. And when they're gone, the silence they leave behind is louder than most people expect.
A lot of our customers come to us in those early weeks after a loss, looking for something tangible to hold onto. Something that says: they were here, they were loved, and they mattered. That's exactly what our paw print keepsakes are made for.
Where the Print Comes From
Most of our paw print products start with an ink impression, either taken by you at home or provided by your vet or pet crematorium at the time of passing. Many vets and cremation services offer paw prints as standard, so if you've recently lost a pet, it's always worth asking.
If you already have an ink print on paper, that's all we need. You simply photograph it clearly (flat on a surface, good lighting, no shadows across the print) and send us the image when you place your order.
Don't worry if it's not perfect; most aren't, and we're used to working with prints that have smudges, gaps, or a bit of movement. We'll do our best to make it work.
From Ink Print to Finished Keepsake
Once we have your image, here's how we go from a photo of a paw print to a finished product:
1. We prepare your artwork
Your paw print image is cleaned up digitally. We remove the background, sharpen the edges, and get it ready for print. This step makes a big difference to the final result, especially if the original impression was a little uneven.
2. We print using sublimation
We use a process called sublimation printing, which transfers the image into the surface of the product using heat and pressure, rather than sitting on top like a sticker or a standard print. This means the result is vivid, permanent, and won't scratch, fade, or peel over time.
3. We press it onto your chosen product
Depending on what you've ordered, your artwork is pressed using either our flat heat press (for coasters, keyrings, cushion covers, and keepsake boxes) or our mug press (for mugs). Each product is pressed individually, by hand, in our studio in Staffordshire.
4. We add your personalisation
Your pet's name, the dates, a short message, whatever you'd like included, is added to the design before pressing. Nothing is added as an afterthought; it's all part of the same finished piece.
5. We check it and pack it carefully
Every order is checked before it's packed. We know these aren't just products, they're memories, so we take care with how they leave us.
What Products Can We Put a Paw Print On?
Our paw print memorial is growing and will include:
- Mugs — a daily reminder of your pet, every morning
- Ornaments — subtle and lasting, for the home
- Keyrings — keep them close wherever you go
- Cushion covers — a comforting presence on the sofa
All products can be personalised with your pet's name and any additional text you'd like to include.
What If I Don't Have a Paw Print?
It happens more often than you'd think, especially when a loss is sudden. If you don't have an ink print, there are still a few options:
- Some crematoriums will take a paw print before or during the cremation process. It's always worth asking, even after the fact
- If you have a clear photo of your pet's paw (from underneath), we may be able to work with that in some cases. Just get in touch and we'll let you know honestly whether it'll work
- We also offer keepsakes using a photo of your pet instead, which many customers find just as meaningful
We'd rather tell you upfront what's possible than take an order we can't do justice to.
A Note on Timings
All of our products are made to order. We don't hold pre-made stock; every piece is created individually for the person who ordered it. Our current turnaround is typically 2 working days before dispatch, with delivery via Royal Mail.
If you need something sooner, please message us before ordering, and we'll always try to help where we can.
You Don't Have to Rush
There's no right time to order a memorial keepsake. Some people want something in the first week. Others come back months later, once the dust has settled and they're ready. Both are completely fine.
Whenever you're ready, we're here, and we'll handle your order with the care it deserves.
